Raj Date is a managing partner at Fenway Summer, an advisory and investment firm focused on financial services and financial technology. He chairs the investment committee of Fenway Summer Ventures, a fintech venture capital fund, and works with clients of FS Vector, the fintech advisory firm.
Date was the first deputy director of the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, where he helped guide the bureau’s early strategic, operational, and policy initiatives. Prior to being appointed deputy director, he acted as the special advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury.
He began his career in banking, and was a managing director at Deutsche Bank Securities before founding a nonprofit think tank to research the regulation of financial firms.
He also served on the senior staff committee of the Financial Stability Oversight Council, and as a statutory deputy to the FDIC Board. Currently, Date is the managing partner of Fenway Summer, LLC, a venture capital firm with a focus in financial services. He is an expert in financial consumer protection and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s inner workings and policies.
